One of the reasons why I believe so many people fail in the MLM business is because of unrealistic expectations
that are set. To be frank, we as an industry cause a lot of these problems to
begin with.
We need to set realistic expectations in ourMLM
business to succeed. The bottom line is most people aren't going to earn 1,000,000
Pesos or $20,000 a year. What's great about MLM
is that everyone has an open opportunity to earn that type of income or more.
It doesn't matter what your education is, what connections and relationships you have, as long as you meet the requirements for earning this type of money in the compensation plan you can earn this type of income inMLM .
In Corporate America, everyone doesn't have an equal opportunity to make 6 figures. Those with better educations, those with better connections and relationships and those who are simply in the right place at the right time all have a significant advantage at earning this type of income.
Also, these positions are limited. In order for you to get a position that pays that type of income, someone has to vacate that position.
The other are that we need to set realistic expectations on is the type of work ethic that it takes to build this business. Many times we tell prospects all they need is a couple of hours a week and they can build a huge income.
This type of situation is hurtful to our efforts to build the business because we recruit a bunch of people into our organizations that think a big business is going to be handed to them on a silver platter.
Now don't get me wrong, you don't have to completely abandon your family to build aMLM business successfully.
However, you do need to dedicate some time in your schedule to build this
business successfully.
For example, if you only have 5 hours a week to build a business, you can make some money. However, if you're aren't fortunate enough to have a strong success team above you with some more time on their hands, chances are, you will never build a big business.
When I look at the people who are building full time incomes on a part time basis, every single one of them are working their network marketing business anywhere from 10 to 20 hours a week.
In fact, the large majority of them are closer to that 15 to 20 hour time frame as oppose to the 10 hour time frame.
So can you get it done in 5 hours a week? You can. But don't get mad if you're in the business for 4 years and you’re only earning $500 a month whereas someone else joined the same time as you, did 15 hours a week and is making $5000 a month.
So set realistic expectations with your distributors. Let them understand that it is a business. Let them know that you really don't know how much money they are going to make and how fast.
I'll share this last story as this is the illustration that I share with every distributor that I personally recruit into my business that I believe does an excellent job at setting realistic expectations with my organization.
Whenever I recruit a new distributor I explain to them that this business is like riding a bike. For some kids when they first learn how to ride a bike, they might fall a couple of times and then next thing you know, they got it and are racing down the street.
Other kids who learn how to ride a bike don't get it right away. They constantly fall down, they get frustrated and many of them want to give up. I know because I was one of those kids that didn't learn right away. In fact, I first tried to ride when I was 5 and didn't get it until I was 8. However, once I finally got it, I was able to ride just like everyone else.
The same holds true in this business. Some people may get started in this business, catch on right away and in 90 days they are making a full time income and are closing in on earning a six figure income within their first 6-12 months.
Others may struggle and not have success right away. It might take them months before they sign up their first customer or recruit their first distributor. However, the person that struggles sticks with it and over the next several months or years builds a big business.
It might take what some people would classify as the "slow" person 5 years, 10 years, even 15 years to get to a six figure income. However, even if it takes them that long, it's still worth it. You're going to work 40 years to retire on social security and I bet social security won't pay you a six figure income if there is even anything left by the time you retire.
Do you know you will need to save up about 1.8 million dollars in your 401K plan just to be able to live on a six figure income? The average person will NEVER save up that kind of money.
So set realistic expectations for yourMLM
business and your team and the industry will thank you for it!
In this business of direct sales/network marketing, many people
invest an enormous amount of effort and time in bringing in a new business
partner. But without setting the proper expectations and helping them get
quick results (earn their ROI month one, achieve a company “fast start” bonus
or goal, and get their first customer and partner), many new people leave this
business before they even get started.
This Is Not
“Get Rich Quick”
