Why is it that many distributors seem to
struggle with this fundamental skill that is so vital to success in this industry? It is because there are so many leaders and trainers out there that
are teaching distributors that they don't need to network anymore.
Is networking important in network marketing? Yes, It's very important. Are there some people who have succeeded in the industry without it? There are, but those people are few and far between.
Case in point. The next time you go to a business overview or a training for your network marketing opportunity in your area, ask your fellow distributors how they were recruited into the company. 80 to 90% of them were recruited through networking. They were either recruited by someone that they know personally or they were recruited by someone who knew someone.
The challenge with the skill of networking is that it's not really a science.
Networking is an “ART” and like any art it takes much practice and trial and error
for you to become good at it. Here are some tips to help you become better at
networking. Is networking important in network marketing? Yes, It's very important. Are there some people who have succeeded in the industry without it? There are, but those people are few and far between.

Tip #1 - The best people to network with are people that you already know and have some type of relationship with. This is why most network marketing companies instruct their distributors to start off with their warm market, people they already know. It's a lot easier to network to and network through someone you already have a relationship with than it is with someone who is a complete stranger.
Tip #2 - If you are networking with a prospect that you don't know personally, spend some time building a relationship with them first. Ask them about themselves, their dreams, their goals, their families, their occupation and what they are looking to accomplish. You will get a lot further with this approach.
Tip #3 - Put the other person first. See what you can do to help them. This is very important especially when you are networking with people you don't know that well who have other businesses. You don't want to come across as someone that is just trying to "pitch" them on your opportunity.
Tip #4 - The fortune is in the follow-up. Sometimes people you network with may not be interested in your opportunity right now. However, if you follow up with them at some point in the future, they may be interested later on and they make great distributors as a part of your organization. The problem is most people in this industry quit too soon so by the time your contacts are ready to get started you're either no longer in the industry or you're doing some other deal.
Enjoy The Journey!
